Easter services and Easter dinner are behind us. On this Sabbath afternoon I reflect on the resurrection in the world today. I thought I would share some of my reflections with you. At the bottom of this entry is also the link to an Easter sermon. I pray that your Easter Sunday is filled with the reality of the risen Christ in your life.
Christian faith is faith in the resurrection, and the resurrection is literally just that: rising up again. It gives us the strength to get up, and the creative freedom to begin something once more in the midst of our on-going history, something fresh. ‘Incipit vita nova’ — a new life begins. That is the truly revolutionary power of hope. It is revolutionary because it is innovative. . . . ‘Christians are the eternal beginners’, wrote Franz Rosenzweig. And that is the best thing that can ever be said about believers, lovers and the hopeful.

And another year . . . All of us, Presbyterians, Lutherans, Catholics,
Like to sit in the pew, sing with others,
Give thanks for being here together still,
For the gift of echoing the Word, now and in all ages.
