One of the most important calls that I extended during my ministerial career was to a director of music at First Presbyterian Church of Chattanooga, Tennessee. The Christian lady that I called to serve in the vital position was Mrs. Kelly Stultz. Recently, Kelly announced her resignation. Members of the choir assembled a most appropriate tribute. As I prepared my tribute to the music ministry of this remarkably gifted and gracious musician and ministry leader, I realized that Kelly embodied the character, competency, and commitment that should be the standard for any director of music.
So, I now offer this video, produced as a tribute to my friend, as a guide for pastors, elders, search committees, and others who are seeking a Director of Music. The text for the teaching is from Psalm 33:3:
“Sing a new song of praise to him; play skillfully on the harp, and sing with joy” (NLT).

Oh, what an elegant tribute to our Kelly. Though I am still considered a relatively new choir member and my husband first chair trumpet in the church orchestra, I am so deeply touched by your words for this godly saint who has inspired, shared the gospel, mentored and shared her life in music and in so many ways with others.
I know that her life in music is transitioning forward and she will forever be blessed to continue onward with her anointed musical gifts and skills. Thank you for offering this new position to her and I pray for her to listen to the voice of God to know if this is what the Lord is calling her to accept at this time in her precious life.
Thank you again for your genuine and inspiring heart felt tribute to our beloved Kelly and her virtuous character. May the Lord our God and our Savior Jesus Christ walk beside her always. Wayne and I and our choir will miss her joy and light, her voice and spirit terribly, but I too, have hope that she will join me in a special musical endeavor in the near future which I have written in which I hope to feature her.
God bless you, Dr. Milton.
