Pastoral Prayer
The Lord’s Day, First Sunday in Lent 2019; March 10, 2019
Psalm 91:1–2 (ESV):
He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty. 2 I will say to the Lord, “My refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.”
O Lord our Father: From Heaven He came, precious Babe, our Lord Jesus Christ, who dwelt in the shadow of The Almighty, from the manger to the tomb; grant that we, Your children, may flee to the refuge of Thy Person:
In trials, may we hide in the comforts and consolations of our Savior, as if in a chapel to pray;
In times of rejoicing, may we dwell in the cool shadows of Thy grace, as if in a sanctuary to praise;
In life, let the shade of grace and truth transform us;
In death, let the shade of redemption transport us;
So, that in life and in death, we may dwell with Thee, our Creator, Sustainer, and Lord. In the name of the One who invited the weary and the worn to come unto Him, even Christ Jesus our Lord. Amen.
