What shall I return to the LORD
for all his bounty to me?
I will lift up the cup of salvation
and call on the name of the LORD,
I will pay my vows to the LORD
in the presence of all his people.
— Psalm 116:12-14
The worship of God involves a thoughtful, Biblical liturgy—reverent and joyful, reflecting transcendence and immanence. At its core, however, it must always be, in every way, the response of a grateful heart and a transformed soul pulsating with the resurrected life of Jesus our Lord. The heart of worship is, then, not an offering to appease or assuage the Deity, but a personal response of thanksgiving to the Triune God of our salvation.
