This Sunday at Church of the Redeemer I will rest from Exodus in order to join in the nation-wide honoring of Mothers Day. While this day is not on our Church Calendar, it is a national day born out of Christian concern for the family. I have always used this day (and Fathers Day) as a pastoral mission to speak the Gospel of healing and hope to our families. This Sunday the sermon will be “The Christian Woman’s Guilt-free Guide to Proverbs 31” and the text will be, as you might have guessed, Proverbs 31 and, in the New Testament, 1 Timothy 2:13-15.
Warning: the message is aimed at the hearts of ALL of us and brings the hope of new life to everyone, not only moms. But the ladies among us—daughters, sisters, and mothers in the faith—receive the greatest blessing.
I hope to see you who can be there. For our friends who might follow these humble posts from afar, the text and, soon, the Faith for Living internet radio edition, will be coming.
The Lord bless and keep you as we all move towards the day of worship and rest; the Sabbath preview of heaven that Abraham Joshua Heschel called, “the Queen of days.”
