“I’m so thankful for the active obedience of Christ. No hope without it.”—Dr. J. Gresham Machen, of Princeton and Westminster Seminary. This would be his dying words as he looked to the Cross and exhaled the glorious theological truth of his soul—that Jesus kept the Law for us and also took our sins, in His passive obedience, on Calvary’s cross. These words were in a telegram to Professor John Murray on January 1, 1937.
