Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. (1 John 3:16 KJV)
The more I read and pray through his testimony the more I appreciate Saint John the Evangelist. The “disciple whom Jesus loved” had “one sermon:” the love of Christ that he saw and could never get over. He saw that love in Jesus’ compassion for the poor, in his charge to love one another on Maundy Thursday, and as Jesus ministered to Mary from the cross on which he loved the world that crucified him.
John was the disciple of God’s love in Christ. And shall we who have received that redeeming love from Calvary’s cross not also declare His love to others?
