My beloved Kim, I love you too. Your kind and thoughtful little note reminds me how blessed I am. I love you as my daughter, for you are, and your children are my grandchildren, for they are. It is my honor to lift your name to Christ in my devotions and to keep your name in my little black pastoral prayer book, front page, wherever I go in the world. I thank God for you dearest one.

I haven’t had the privilege of hearing you preach, Dr. Milton, but your writing is beautiful. What a wonderful reminder that God has a purpose in everything – when I am weak, He is strong. Thank you for sharing such lovely prose. I pray that you learn well in this rocking chair season and soon return to inspire and challenge your students.

My husband Don and I are returning to NY shortly and we were so looking forward to hearing you preach again at the New Presbyterian Chuch. Know that you will be in our prayers and that the Lord will soon restore your strength. What beautiful and inspiring words you have written. Surely they will be of comfort to others who are now ill or may become ill in the future. God Bless and Keep You.

Dear Mr and Mrs Pemberton, I am so sorry that we missed each other. I love preaching there. I will return there to preach in May. How I pray that the Lord refreshed me with your presence, if not then, perhaps another time. The Lord bless you.
Dear Dr. Milton, It’s not original with me but was given to me at one of those testing times by by pastor 50 years ago… “Ill that He blesses is our good, And unblessed good is ill; And all is right, that seems most wrong, If it be God’s own will.” Blessings on you and the family, To our Lord Jesus, “The worker is always more impoprtant than the work” JW

Dear Dr. Milton, I have been blessed to hear your sermons when you visited the New Presbyterian Church and now to read your moving and stirring words. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family as I can relate a little to your illness. I too have been diagnosed with neurocardiogenic syncope, though not in as a severe form as yours. I admit to feeling scared when the near fainting episodes began, but found strength in God to continue forward in my life. It is comforting to hear that a man of faith such as yourself is able to lead us by example in trusting God to be our “everything”, especially in such trying times. Thank you for your inner strength and may you regain your outer strength soon. Mark

Mike, it was a blessing to read your meditation! It reminded me of when I came out of surgery two years ago, so weak, so helpless, conflicted about whether to stay or to go. It reminded me again also of the fact that we are in control of nothing at all. But thanks be to God, we have a merciful Savior who is in control of everything! I will be praying for your full recovery, brother
May the Lord be your strength, brother.
