This word is by decree of the observers;
the matter is a command from the holy ones.
This is so the living will know
that the Most High is ruler
over the kingdom of men.
He gives it to anyone He wants
and sets the lowliest of men over it (Daniel 4:17)
As events unfold in Egypt and the eyes of the world are upon the unprecedented changes in Cairo, it is important to remember that the Bible tells us that nations rise and fall, leaders come and go, but God Himself is the One who appoints and pulls down. Everything is under the sovereign control of God.
The King of Babylon, Nebuchadnezzar, learned the hard way, through disobedience and divine punishment and, finally, divine awakening, that Almighty God is ruler, he is not. The events recorded in the prophecy of Daniel tell us today that as we witness the massive geo-political seismic shifting of this generation, whether in the fall of the Berlin Wall, the rise of Islamic fundamentalism, the tragic attack on America on 9/11 or today, with the reported resignation of President Hosni Mubarak in Egypt, Jesus Christ is in control. All things are occurring according to His plan: to bring about His Gospel of grace and truth to the world, and to save all of those who by repentance and faith turn to Him as Lord and Savior.
When things happened in Jesus’ day, He did not give detailed comments on the hows or whys of the event, but He called people to repent and believe the Gospel or face their own personal catastrophe. This is what we read in Luke’s Gospel:
Now there were some present at that time who told Jesus about the Galileans whose blood Pilate had mixed with their sacrifices. Jesus answered, “Do you think that these Galileans were worse sinners than all the other Galileans because they suffered this way? I tell you, no! But unless you repent, you too will all perish. Or those eighteen who died when the tower in Siloam fell on them–do you think they were more guilty than all the others living in Jerusalem? I tell you, no! But unless you repent, you too will all perish (Luke 13:1-5, NIV).
Thus we are faithful to the Scriptures to announce in our day that it is time to repent and turn to Jesus Christ as the resurrected and reigning Lord of life and Potentate of time while there is still time for us. Hosni Mubarak did not know several days ago, nor did the world, that events in his life and in the life of an entire nation would be turned upside down within hours. So our days are numbered and we know not when we shall appear before the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Turn today and receive the Lord Jesus Christ as Savior and King. You will be received safely into His arms and your destiny will be secure forever according to the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
This is the ultimate meaning of the events in Egypt today:
The Most High is ruler over the kingdom of men. He gives it to anyone He wants and sets the lowliest of men over it. The Most High is ruler over the kingdom of men. He gives it to anyone He wants and sets the lowliest of men over it.
