This article appeared in Preaching Journal this month and is also, presently, linked here. I pray it will be of some use for ministers of the Gospel as we consider how to strategically move forward into this generation with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Personally, I have never been more excited about our opportunities in the West as now. Pluralism never stopped the Good News of liberating human beings in bondage by giving them the truth of our Creator, our Sin and need of atonement and of new life, and of a Redeemer, Jesus Christ, the only name by which men may be saved. It is as powerful today in our culture as it was when the faith of Jesus was preaching by St. Paul into the religious soup of his day.
“Stand then in His great might, with all His strength endured;
But take, to arm you for the fight, the panoply of God.
Leave no unguarded place, no weakness of the soul;
Take every virtue, every grace, and fortify the whole.” (Soldiers of Christ Arise, No. 575, Trinity Hymnal [Rev.]).
